What Our Customers Say

“Wore this while paddleboarding and walking along the coast. The zip is handy when it gets warm and the fabric feels breathable without being thin. Didn’t burn at all and it never felt clingy. Really pleased with it.”

“Used this on holiday and ended up wearing it most days. It’s soft, not sweaty, and gives full coverage without feeling heavy. I like that the zip makes it easier to take on and off and gives a bit of ventilation. Great quality too.”

“Took this on a fishing trip and it was perfect. Protected my arms and neck all day without needing loads of suncream. Zip is a nice touch and the material feels really solid but still comfy. Would buy again.”

“I’ve tried a few rash tops over the years but this one’s the best by far. The fit is flattering, the zip doesn’t dig in, and it actually looks good on. I wore it for hiking and kayaking and it stayed cool and protective all day.”
Our Story

Over 15 years ago, my mother, Annette founded equatorsun shortly after receiving a melanoma diagnosis.
After a few years, equatorsun was blossoming, and at the same time Annette was struggling with melanoma.
In 2009, Annette lost her life, leaving behind, sadly amongst many other things, a mission to prevent skin cancer. My family have committed to carrying-on her legacy through equatorsun.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need sun protective clothing?
Suncream and normal clothes often do not provide you with sufficient sun protection, leaving you exposed to harmful UV radiation. Over exposure to ultraviolet radiation can cause:
- Sunburn
- Premature ageing
- Sun spots
- Skin cancer, including melanoma
- Irreversible skin damage
Our UPF 50+ zip rash shirt has been rigorously tested, and it has been shown to meet and exceed the Australian and New Zealand standard AS/NZS 4399:1966; ensuring that it is sun-safe.
The UPF 50+ rating is equivalent to wearing a permanent layer of broad-spectrum SPF 50+ suncream, except you don't have the trouble of re-applying. So you can relax next time you are in the sun, knowing that you are protected.
What is UPF 50+ protection?
UPF 50+ is the highest rating for sun protection clothing & swimwear. It means that the fabric blocks 98% of UV rays.
All of our apparel, including this zipped rash shirt, are certified UPF 50+ under the rigorous Australian and New Zealand standard AS/NZS 4399:1966.
Do I need to wear suncream if I am wearing this top?
This rash shirt provides excellent UPF 50+ sun protection, which significantly reduces the risk of sunburn. However, for maximum protection, it's still recommended to use suncream on exposed areas of the arms that this rash shirt doesn’t cover.
Which activities is this rash top suitable for?
This zipped rash top is carefully desinged for a variety of water and outdoor activities, including swimming, hiking, surfing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and snorkelling. Its UPF 50+ protection and chlorine-resistant fabric make it ideal for prolonged exposure to the sun and water.
Additionally, it's comfortable for casual beach outings or other outdoor activities.
How should I wash and care for it?
To ensure longevity, machine wash the top in cold water with mild detergent. Avoid using bleach or fabric softeners. Hang to dry in the shade to maintain its colour and elasticity over time.
