“UPF clothing is an essential part of any sun protection strategy. It offers consistent coverage and long-term UV defence, especially for those at higher risk of skin cancer. equatorsun helps make that protection both effective and practical.”
Common questions about kids' sun protection accessories
When should babies start wearing sunglasses?
From the first summer out in strong sun. A baby's eyes let in more UV than an adult's, and the damage adds up over a lifetime, so eye specialists recommend UV400 sunglasses from around six months, as soon as a baby will keep them on. A soft wraparound pair with a strap stays put and covers the sides of the eyes as well as the front.
Why should kids wear beach shoes?
For the sun and for the ground. The tops of the feet burn quickly on a beach and are almost never creamed consistently, and UPF 50+ beach shoes keep them covered. The rubber sole protects against hot sand, sharp shells and rocks, and gives grip on wet slipways and rock pools.
Can kids swim in beach shoes?
Yes. Beach shoes are made to go in the water: they are light, they drain and dry quickly, and they stay on, so a child can walk into the sea, swim and climb out over rocks without stopping to take them off. Rinse them in fresh water after the sea.
What size beach shoes does a toddler need?
Beach shoes run in sizes from a 22 up to a 44. Choose the size your child wears in ordinary shoes.
Why choose equatorsun for kids' sun protection accessories?
Ordinary children's beach shoes and sun covers are rarely tested for UV and they can let through up to 10 times more UV than UPF 50+ children's beach shoes and sun covers. Every equatorsun piece is tested to the AS/NZS 4399 or EN 13758 standard and certified UPF 50+, which means the fabric blocks at least 98% of UVA and UVB rays from reaching the skin it covers. Leading UK consultant dermatologist Dr Dev Shah recommends the equatorsun range. We're a UK family business and have specialised in sun protective clothing since 2006. Customers rate us 4.7 out of 5 across more than 12,500 reviews.
