“UPF clothing is an essential part of any sun protection strategy. It offers consistent coverage and long-term UV defence, especially for those at higher risk of skin cancer. equatorsun helps make that protection both effective and practical.”
Common questions about men's UV jackets
What makes a good sun protection jacket for men?
Look for certified fabric, long sleeves, a collar and ventilation. The fabric should be tested and rated UPF 50+, which means it blocks at least 98% of UV rays. Long sleeves and a collar cover the forearms and the back of the neck, the two places men burn most on a long day outside. Vents under the arms let heat out, so you’ll keep the jacket on. Finally, it should be light enough to pack in a bag.
When would I wear a UV jacket?
Any long day outside in strong sun: a round of golf, a day on a boat, a coastal walk, gardening, fishing or travelling somewhere hot. It goes on over a t-shirt or polo when the sun comes out and zips off when it goes in, and the microfibre fabric is water resistant and quick drying, so a shower does not matter either.
Can men swim in a UV jacket?
The vented jacket is water resistant rather than swimwear, so it is made for golf, sailing, walking and rain showers rather than swimming. For sun protection in the water, choose a swim shirt or a sunsuit, which are made from chlorine-resistant swim fabric.
Why choose equatorsun for men's UV jackets?
Ordinary summer jackets are rarely tested for UV and they can let through up to 10 times more UV than UPF 50+ jackets. Every equatorsun piece is tested to the AS/NZS 4399 or EN 13758 standard and certified UPF 50+, which means the fabric blocks at least 98% of UVA and UVB rays from reaching the skin it covers. Leading UK consultant dermatologist Dr Dev Shah recommends the equatorsun range. We're a UK family business and have specialised in sun protective clothing since 2006.
