Front–crotch–back is the measurement that matters most. It decides whether a one-piece suit fits your body length. If it puts you in a larger size than your chest or waist do, take the larger size.

How to measure

  1. Chest. Around the fullest part of your chest, level with your armholes, arms relaxed at your sides.
  2. Waist. Around the narrowest part of your middle, just above the belly button.
  3. Front–crotch–back. Start at the centre front of your neckline, run the tape straight down your body, between your legs, and up to the centre back of your neckline.
  4. Keep the tape snug but not tight, and breathe normally.

No tape measure? Use a piece of string, mark where it meets, then measure the string against a ruler.
