Go by the chest measurement, not the age. Ages are a guide only. If your child is between two sizes, take the larger.

How to measure

1. Wrap a soft tape measure around the fullest part of your child's chest, arms relaxed at their sides.
2. Keep the tape level all the way round, snug but not tight.

No tape measure? Use a piece of string, mark where it meets, then measure the string against a ruler.
