How to measure
- Waist. Wrap a soft tape measure around the narrowest part of your waist, just above the belly button.
- Hip. Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your hips, with your feet together.
- Keep the tape level all the way round, including across your back.
- Hold it snug but not tight, and breathe normally.
- Read the measurement where the tape meets.
No tape measure? Use a piece of string, mark where it meets, then measure the string against a ruler.
UV protection built into the trunks
Certified UPF 50+ to the Australian standard AS/NZS 4399:1996, so less than 1 in 50 UV rays reach the skin, protecting it from sunburn, premature ageing and long-term damage. Because the protection is part of the fabric, there is nothing to wash off and nothing to top up.
Waist to just above the knee
Men's black UV swim shorts that stop just above the knee, so the thighs are under certified fabric and the knees are left free. They fit close and come up true to size.
Made for swimming and surfing
Light, breathable fabric with a flexible fit, so these men's quick dry swim trunks move with you in the water and stay comfortable on the beach afterwards.
They resist chlorine and saltwater, keep their full UPF 50+ rating when wet and dry fast between swims.

What customers ask us
I am between two sizes. Which should I order?
Go by your hip measurement and take the larger of the two. The swim shorts come up true to size, and the drawstring tie lets you take in the waist.
Do the swim shorts stretch when I move?
Yes. The fabric gives as you move and keeps its shape afterwards, so they are comfortable for swimming and surfing.
Will chlorine fade or weaken them?
The fabric is made to resist chlorine and saltwater. Rinse them in clean water after swimming and hang them in the shade to dry. The UPF 50+ protection is woven into the fibre and weave rather than a chemical finish, so it won't wash off or fade.
Do they dry quickly between swims?
Yes. These men's quick dry swim trunks are light and fast drying, and they keep their full UPF 50+ rating while they are wet.
Is it worth paying more for swim trunks with UV protection built in?
If you want your thighs protected without relying on suncream, yes. These are certified UPF 50+ to AS/NZS 4399:1996 and block at least 98% of UVA and UVB. The protection stays in the fabric wash after wash and holds when the shorts are wet.
Do I still need suncream?
Not on the skin the shorts cover. Use it on your face, ears, neck, chest, back, arms, hands, knees, lower legs and feet, and reapply after swimming.
Is it suitable for skin cancer patients or a medical condition?
Yes. Certified UPF 50+ cover is often recommended after skin cancers such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma, and for autoimmune conditions such as lupus, scleroderma and dermatomyositis, photosensitivity conditions such as actinic keratosis and vitiligo, genetic conditions such as EPP, ichthyoses and Bloom syndrome, and during chemotherapy, radiotherapy or immunosuppressive treatment. We cannot give medical advice, so follow your dermatologist or consultant on how much cover you need.
