Description
This reversible UV bucket hat is a Stingray hat that turns inside out for a second colour, with one colour on each side: navy and azure, black and ocean blue, or pink and aqua. Both sides are certified UPF 50+ to the Australian standard AS/NZS 4399:1996 and block at least 98% of UVA and UVB, and the protection is woven into the fibre and weave rather than a chemical finish.
A wide brim runs all the way round to shade your face. The elastic polyester and PBT fabric is light, breathable and quick drying, it resists chlorine and saltwater, and the hat packs away for travel. A reversible bucket hat for men and women, in one size: 59 cm.

Does a bucket hat protect you from the sun?

What head size does the reversible bucket hat fit?
It comes in one size, 59 cm, in a soft elastic material for a snug fit. Measure around your head just above the ears to check.
Can I wear the bucket hat in the sea or the pool?
Yes, in and out of the water. The fabric resists chlorine and saltwater, keeps its full UPF 50+ rating when wet and dries quickly. There is no chin strap, though, so it will come off if you swim properly in it.
Will the reversible bucket hat pack into a bag?
Yes. It is lightweight and packable, so it folds into a bag for travel or the beach.
How do I wash the bucket hat after swimming?
Rinse it in clean water to remove salt or chlorine. For a full wash, machine wash it cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent and no bleach or fabric softener, then air dry it flat or hang it in the shade. The UV protection is woven into the fibre and weave rather than a chemical finish, so it won't wash off or fade.
Do I still need suncream?
Yes, except on your scalp. The brim shades your face but does not cover it, so use suncream on your face, ears and neck, and on any other skin your clothes leave bare.
Is it suitable if I have had skin cancer or have a medical condition?
Yes. Certified UPF 50+ cover is often recommended after skin cancers such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma, and for autoimmune conditions such as lupus, scleroderma and dermatomyositis, photosensitivity conditions such as actinic keratosis and vitiligo, genetic conditions such as EPP, ichthyoses and Bloom syndrome, and during chemotherapy, radiotherapy or immunosuppressive treatment. We cannot give medical advice, so follow your dermatologist or consultant on how much cover you need.
