What is UPF 50+ protection?

UPF 50+ is the highest rating for sun protection clothing. It means that the fabric blocks 98% of UV rays.

All of our apparel are certified UPF 50+ under the rigorous Australian and New Zealand standard AS/NZS 4399:1966.

Is the brim wide enough to cover my face?

The sun hat comes with a wide brim to ensure your face has excellent sun protection.

Nonetheless, it is always good practice to apply suncream to your face to ensure you are protected from reflected UV rays.

Do I need to wear suncream if I am wearing this hat?

This sun hat provides excellent UPF 50+ sun protection, which significantly reduces the risk of sunburn. However, for maximum protection, it's still recommended to use suncream on exposed areas of skin that this hat doesn’t cover.

How can I wash it?

To ensure longevity, machine wash the hat in cold water with mild detergent. Avoid using bleach or fabric softeners. Hang to dry in the shade to maintain its colour.

Over 15 years ago, my mother, Annette founded Equatorsun shortly after receiving a melanoma diagnosis. After a few years, Equatorsun was blossoming, and at the same time Annette was struggling with melanoma. In 2009, Annette lost her life, leaving behind, sadly amongst many other things, a mission to prevent skin cancer. My family have committed to carrying-on her legacy through Equatorsun.
