How to measure
- Waist. Wrap a soft tape measure around the narrowest part of your waist, just above the belly button.
- Hip. Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your hips, with your feet together.
- Keep the tape level all the way round, including across your back.
- Hold it snug but not tight, and breathe normally.
- Read the measurement where the tape meets.
No tape measure? Use a piece of string, mark where it meets, then measure the string against a ruler.
Tested to the Australian standard
Stingray's UPF 50+ fabric is tested and certified to AS/NZS 4399:1996: less than 1 in 50 UV rays get through to your legs, which helps protect them from sunburn, premature ageing and long-term damage.
The protection is woven into the fibre and weave of this Italian fabric, so it won't wash off or fade.
Your legs covered, waist to ankle
Full length women's sun protection swim leggings that cover your legs from the waist to the ankle, on a simple elasticated waistband. No suncream is needed on the skin they cover; use it on your face, neck, arms, upper body, hands and feet.
From a swim to a walk on the beach
These UV leggings for swimming are cooling and breathable, so you can swim, surf or snorkel, then walk on the beach or go hiking in them.
They resist chlorine and saltwater, keep their full UPF 50+ rating when wet and dry fast.

What customers ask us
Do these leggings come in black as well as navy?
Yes, black or navy, in the same fabric and cut.
Can you get sunburnt through black leggings?
Ordinary leggings carry no UPF rating, so there is no telling how much UV gets through them. These are certified UPF 50+ in black or navy, so less than 1 in 50 UV rays reach your skin.
My waist and hips are in different sizes. Which should I order?
Go by your hip measurement, and take the larger size if you are between two. They come up true to size. This listing is size S, for a waist of 64 to 69 cm and hips of 86 to 91 cm.
Will chlorine and salt water damage them?
The fabric is resistant to both, and the UV protection is woven into the fibre and weave rather than a chemical finish, so it does not wash out. Rinse them in clean water after swimming, wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent, skip bleach and fabric softener, and dry them in the shade.
Can I wear them for hiking and snorkelling as well as swimming?
Yes. The fabric is cooling and breathable for hiking and beach days, and in the water it keeps its full UPF 50+ rating.
Do they dry quickly after swimming?
Yes, the fabric is fast drying, and it stays UPF 50+ while it is wet, so your legs are still covered as they dry.
Is it suitable for skin cancer patients or a medical condition?
Yes. Certified UPF 50+ cover is often recommended after skin cancers such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma, and for autoimmune conditions such as lupus, scleroderma and dermatomyositis, photosensitivity conditions such as actinic keratosis and vitiligo, genetic conditions such as EPP, ichthyoses and Bloom syndrome, and during chemotherapy, radiotherapy or immunosuppressive treatment. We cannot give medical advice, so follow your dermatologist or consultant on how much cover you need.
