A Stingray kids' UV bucket hat with a wide brim that shades the face, ears and neck. The UPF 50+ fabric blocks at least 98% of UVA and UVB rays, tested to the Australian standard AS/NZS 4399:1996. The protection is woven into the fibre and weave rather than a chemical finish, so it will not wash off or fade.
This children's bucket hat is light and breathable. An elastic fit keeps it snug with no chin strap, and it folds flat into a beach bag. It can go in and out of the pool or the sea and keeps its UPF 50+ rating when wet, and if it comes off in the water, it floats. Two sizes, 2 to 4 years and 6 to 12 years, in royal blue, black, navy and pink for boys and girls.

Which size? Measure the head
Measure around your child's head just above the ears. The 2 to 4 years size is made to 45 cm and fits 43 to 48 cm heads, so it suits most 3 year olds. The 6 to 12 years size is made to 51 cm and fits 49 to 54 cm heads, so it suits most 6 and 8 year olds. Go by the tape measure rather than the age.

What ages does the kids' bucket hat come in?
Two sizes. The 2 to 4 years size is made to 45 cm and fits heads of 43 to 48 cm. The 6 to 12 years size is made to 51 cm and fits heads of 49 to 54 cm. Measure around your child's head just above the ears and choose by the measurement, because ages are only a guide.
Does the brim shade my child's ears and neck?
Yes. The wide brim shades the face, ears and neck, and the crown covers the top of the head. Crown and brim are the same certified UPF 50+ fabric.
Will it stay on?
It has an elastic fit that holds it snugly on the head, and no chin strap. Choose the size by head measurement so the elastic sits as it should.
Can my child wear it swimming?
In and out of the water, yes. It keeps its full UPF 50+ rating wet, in the pool or the sea. It is not made for proper swimming and will come off if they try, but it floats, so you can fish it out.
How do I wash the bucket hat after swimming?
Rinse it in clean water to remove salt or chlorine, then air dry it flat or hang it in the shade, away from high heat and direct sunlight. For a full wash, machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent, with no bleach or fabric softeners. The UV protection is woven into the fibre and weave rather than a chemical finish, so washing will not remove it.
Does my child still need suncream?
Yes, on the skin the hat does not cover. The crown covers the top of the head. The brim shades the face, ears and neck, but UV also reflects up off sand and water, so keep suncream on those, and on the arms, hands, legs and feet unless clothing covers them.
Is it suitable for eczema, sensitive skin or a child who cannot be in the sun?
Yes. The fabric is light and breathable, and its UV protection is woven into the fibre and weave rather than a chemical finish, which is why it suits eczema and sensitive skin.
