Description

A men's zipped UV rash vest with short sleeves, an extended high collar and a quarter zip that stops at the chest. The UPF 50+ fabric blocks at least 98% of UVA and UVB rays, tested to the Australian standard AS/NZS 4399:1996. The protection is woven into the fibre and the weave rather than a chemical finish, so it cannot wash out or wear off.

The quarter zip makes this a zip front rash vest that is easy to put on and take off, and it allows adjustable airflow. The Italian fabric is soft, light and stretchy. It resists chlorine and saltwater, holds its shape through repeated use and dries quickly, so it suits surfing, swimming, paddleboarding and hiking. Sizes S to 7XL, in azure, black and navy.

Protection woven into the fabric

Certified UPF 50+ to the Australian standard AS/NZS 4399:1996, so less than 1 in 50 UV rays reach the skin. The protection comes from the Italian polyester and PBT fibres and the density of the weave rather than a chemical finish, so it cannot wash out or wear off.

Questions

What customers ask us

Is it a full zip or a quarter zip?

A quarter zip that stops at the chest.

Is the zipped rash vest easier to get on and off?

Yes. The front zip makes it easy to put on and take off, and the same quarter-length zip allows adjustable airflow.

What sizes does it come in?

Ten sizes, S to 7XL, for chests from 97 cm up to 142 cm. Measure the fullest part of your chest, and if you are between two chest sizes, take the larger.

Will it keep its shape in salt water and chlorine?

Yes. The Italian fabric resists chlorine and saltwater and holds its shape through repeated use in the sea, the pool and the sun. Rinse it in clean water after swimming to get the salt or chlorine out.

Do I still need suncream?

Not on the skin it covers. Use it on your face, ears, forearms, hands and legs, and reapply after swimming. A UPF 50+ legionnaire cap covers the head, ears and neck, and UV swim shorts or leggings cover the legs.

Will the UV protection wash out?

No. It is woven into the fibre and the weave rather than a chemical finish, so it cannot wash out or wear off. Wash it cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent, skip the bleach and fabric softener, and dry it in the shade.

Is it suitable for skin cancer patients or a medical condition?

Yes. Certified UPF 50+ cover is often recommended after skin cancers such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma, and for autoimmune conditions such as lupus, scleroderma and dermatomyositis, photosensitivity conditions such as actinic keratosis and vitiligo, genetic conditions such as EPP, ichthyoses and Bloom syndrome, and during chemotherapy, radiotherapy or immunosuppressive treatment. We cannot give medical advice, so follow your dermatologist or consultant on how much cover you need.
