How to measure
- Waist. Wrap a soft tape measure around the narrowest part of your waist, just above the belly button.
- Hip. Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your hips, with your feet together.
- Keep the tape level all the way round, including across your back.
- Hold it snug but not tight, and breathe normally.
- Read the measurement where the tape meets.
No tape measure? Use a piece of string, mark where it meets, then measure the string against a ruler.
Less than 1 in 50 UV rays reach the skin
That is what UPF 50+ means, tested and certified to the Australian standard AS/NZS 4399:1996. Suncream on the legs washes off in the water, while this protection is woven into the fibre and weave rather than a chemical finish, so it stays in the fabric.
The whole leg, waist to ankle
Stingray men's swim tights that run the full length of the leg, so thighs, knees and calves are all under certified fabric.
Swim leggings you can hike in
Soft, cooling and breathable, they work as men's UPF 50+ hiking leggings as well as for swimming and surfing.
In the water they resist chlorine and saltwater and keep their full UPF 50+ rating.

What customers ask us
Do these swim leggings come in navy as well as black?
Yes. The men's navy swim tights and the black pair have the same cut, fabric and UPF 50+ rating.
Which size should I order?
Size S fits a 64 to 69 cm waist and an 86 to 91 cm hip. Measure the fullest part of your hips and go by that; the leggings come up true to size.
Will chlorine and salt water damage them?
No, the fabric is chlorine and saltwater resistant. Rinse them in clean water after a swim, wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent and dry them in the shade, and the UPF 50+ protection won't wash off or fade.
Can I wear them for hiking as well as swimming?
Yes. The fabric is cooling and breathable and covers the whole leg from waist to ankle, so they work on a trail as well as in the water.
Do they dry quickly after a swim?
Yes, the fabric is fast drying, and it keeps its full UPF 50+ rating while it is wet.
Do I still need suncream?
Not on your legs. Use it on your face, ears, neck, chest, back, arms, hands and feet, and reapply after swimming.
Is it suitable for skin cancer patients or a medical condition?
Yes. Certified UPF 50+ cover is often recommended after skin cancers such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma, and for autoimmune conditions such as lupus, scleroderma and dermatomyositis, photosensitivity conditions such as actinic keratosis and vitiligo, genetic conditions such as EPP, ichthyoses and Bloom syndrome, and during chemotherapy, radiotherapy or immunosuppressive treatment. We cannot give medical advice, so follow your dermatologist or consultant on how much cover you need.
