Description
Wallaroo's Avalon is a wide brim cotton sun hat in chocolate, finished with a cream tie band and a cream underbrim, rated UPF 50+ to block over 98% of UV rays.
The brim runs to 10cm and is soft rather than stiffened. That width keeps the face, ears and the whole back of the neck out of direct sun through the middle of the day, well past the 7.5cm dermatologists ask for.
Cotton throughout, so it breathes properly in heat. The tie band knots at the side to draw the fit in.
Built at 58cm and adjustable down, so it fits heads from roughly 56cm to 58cm.

Ten centimetres of shade in UPF 50+ cotton
Ten centimetres is a lot of brim. It is what puts your ears and the back of your neck in shade at the same time as your face.
100% Cotton
The brim has no wire and no buckram holding it flat. That also means it folds into a bag at the end of the day.
Chocolate outside, cream underneath
The cream runs under the brim and through the lining, tied off with a cream band knotted at the side.
The cream string is the adjuster as well as the trim. Pull the bow tighter and the crown draws in with it.
One size, 58 cm
Measure around your head just above the ears. The Avalon is made at 58 cm and the tie band draws it in from there, so it sits properly on anything from 56 cm up.
Measure just above the ears. Made at 58 cm and drawn in with the tie band.

“We started equatorsun after my mum, Annette, was diagnosed with melanoma in 2006. She died three years later and the family kept the business going. A ten centimetre brim is not a fashion decision, it is the width that actually covers the parts of you that burn, and there are not many hats that go that far.”
